Choreographer Karole Armitage and visual artist/set designer David Salle have been collaborating on works for the stage since the 1980s. This program features excerpts from The Dream Trilogy (2004-2008) and showcases 3 works: Time is the echo of an axe within a wood (2004, Ligeti Essays (2007) and Connoisseurs of Chaos (2008). Armitage has revolutionized classical dance through her thoroughly modern choreography andby the visual splendor of her collaborations with David Salle.
“For more than twenty years, since Balanchines death, people have been waiting for someone to carry on his project and thus create the future of American ballet, of which he is, almost totally, the past. Armitage seems to be trying to do so. She should come home, and stay.”
THE NEW YORKER
”The Armitage style is distinguished by its virtuosity and its urgency. She pushes the frontiers that traditionally
separate dance, theater, music, and visual arts.”
